Six high school students have earned scholarships to Arkansas Tech University based upon their prowess as creative writers.
The annual competition is sponsored by the ATU Department of English and World Languages in partnership with the ATU Office of Admissions.
Kassidy Clark of Marshall High School won first place for the 2024-25 competition and a $1,500 scholarship. Her winning submission will appear in the spring 2025 issue of “Nebo,” ATU’s student-edited literary journal.
Additional scholarship winners were Carter Whiley of Mansfield High School (second place, $1,000), Cole Triplett of DeKalb High School in Texas (third place, $1,000), Briare Harding of Magazine High School (fourth place, $500), Zita Guhr of Berryville High School (fifth place, $500) and Hannah Baker of Mountain Home High School (sixth place, $500).
Dr. Claire Kortyna, Dr. Mary Sharpe, Dr. Stan Lombardo and Eli Cranor, faculty members in the ATU Department of English and World Languages, judged the entries.
