Arkansas Tech University students who have benefited from scholarships through the ATU Foundation met some of the donors who make those opportunities possible during a luncheon at Williamson Hall Dining Room on Friday, April 4.
“I just want to say thank you,” said Dr. Russell Jones, ATU president, during the event. “The word that comes to my mind is opportunity…opportunities that are created and opportunities that are taken advantage of. You, as students, have taken advantage of an opportunity to go to a great school, Arkansas Tech. By doing that, you have increased your opportunities in the future. Your success is strengthened by your time here.
“The other side of that opportunity is the people seated at the tables with you,” continued Jones. “They have provided you with an opportunity. The donors and the creators of these scholarships…most of them graduated from Arkansas Tech, and they know the opportunities they received here. That’s why they want to support you.”
Donors to the ATU Foundation provided $980,000 in scholarship assistance to Arkansas Tech students during the 2023-24 academic year.
During the fall 2024 semester, approximately 500 ATU students received more than $592,000 in privately-funded scholarships through the ATU Foundation.
