ATU’s White and Lerma Earn Statewide Tourism Honor – arkansastechnews.com

Arkansas Tech University tourism students Belle White of Carlisle and Paula Lerma of Paragould earned the $1,000 Arkansas Recreation and Parks Association student scholarship during the organization’s statewide conference at Fort Smith in October.
“We are truly honored and proud of our students,” said Tracy Cole, dean of the ATU College of Business and Economic Development. “The fact that both scholarships offered by ARPA went to ATU students reflects the high quality of both our students and the education provided by our tourism degree program.”
White and Lerma were joined at the conference by fellow ATU tourism students Luis Alvarado of Benton and Georgia Brothers of Ola. They were accompanied by Dr. Jay Post, ATU associate professor of tourism.
The conference provided the ATU students with opportunities to learn more about the tourism industry, network with professionals and perform volunteer service.
