Auchan Retail Romania has launched a new edition of the Trainee Program, a six-month accelerated journey dedicated to passionate, curious young people eager to build a career in retail. Final-year students and master’s students have the opportunity to discover the company, understand the main departments and organizational processes, specialize in a particular field, and prepare for an entry-level role in one of Auchan’s departments such as Marketing, Logistics, IT, Purchasing, Sales, or Human Resources.
Nearly 70% of participants from previous editions have been hired, with the average time spent at Auchan being close to four years. Launched in 2016, the program targets young people from all fields of study who want to build a career in one of Romania’s leading retail companies.
For this year’s edition, 24 positions are available at the company’s headquarters in Bucharest and within the management teams of stores in Cluj and Timișoara. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to explore the universe of over 50 professions within the company, actively engaging in projects in departments such as Marketing, Logistics, IT, Technical, Purchasing, Sales, or Human Resources. The internship is part-time, flexible, and compatible with academic schedules, and comes with a motivating monthly scholarship.

“Auchan Trainee is an intensive professional development program designed for curious, passionate young people who are eager to grow. Retail is and will continue to be a highly dynamic sector, offering the chance to learn quickly and develop in various directions. With over 50 professions and 250 roles, Auchan is the place where you can discover your professional path in an environment that encourages learning on the job, autonomy, and career growth,” said Adina Nanu, Human Resources and Transformation Director, Auchan Romania.
To date, the program has attracted nearly 150 young people, about 70% of whom have become permanent employees. Many of the graduates now hold positions such as Commercial Department Manager, Accountant, HR Business Partner, Import Specialist, Campaign Communications Manager, Loyalty Specialist, BPM Integrator, or Talent Specialist.

How young people can apply for the Auchan Trainee program
Young people with strong communication skills, digital competencies, team spirit, initiative, and a desire for continuous development can apply until July 20th by completing the form available at: https://cariere.auchan.ro/startalents/program-trainee. Auchan also encourages the participation of young people with disabilities, reaffirming the company’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Selected candidates will go through an intensive 6-month program that includes:
“Auchan Trainee is like an apprenticeship – you learn without pressure, get explanations when you don’t know something, and your colleagues are very patient.” – Mircea, former Trainee in the Technical department

“The fact that you don’t need experience and that you can genuinely discover your passion and skills is a huge advantage. In 7 months, I’ve grown a lot, and now I have my own responsibilities within the department.” – Elena, former Trainee in the Marketing department
In addition to the Auchan Trainee program, the retailer also invests in young people at the beginning of their careers through other initiatives, offering internships, retail management trainee programs, or “Open Doors” sessions for university students.
In 2025, Auchan Romania was named Top Employer for the third consecutive year by the Top Employers Institute. The recognition reflects the company’s commitment to best HR practices and a positive work environment, where employees receive genuine support for their development. According to an internal IPSOS survey, 85% of employees recommend the company as an employer, and the engagement index reached 89%, above the industry average. With approximately 7,000 employees—over 2,700 of whom have been with the company for 10 to 19 years—Auchan offers a work environment based on autonomy, ethics, transparency, and responsibility.
