With the 40th annual Academic Awards Ceremony five weeks away, Metropolis Kiwanis Club is continuing to accept donations for the silent auction that will assist in raising funds for the night’s scholarships. To donate an item for the silent auction, contact Rita Park 618-309-1930 or Landon Bremer at 618-524-2161. The annual Scholarship Spaghetti Supper & Auction will be Saturday, March 29, from 4-6:30 p.m. at Massac Junior High School. Tickets are $15 for adults or $7 for kids ages 5 to 10 with eat-in or take-out available. The fundraiser for the Academic Awards Ceremony includes an all-you-can-eat meal prepared by Two Sisters Catering. Proceeds from the night go toward the Academic Awards Ceremony scholarships for graduating seniors from Massac County and Joppa high schools. Items donated for the auction thus far include: an old-fashioned 9.5-by-5-inch sponge-ware pottery pitcher made by Rita Park; a framed saying furnished by Creations The Florist; and a Milwaukee tool set furnished by Tom Carrell.
