Charlottesville area could become world’s first ‘biophilic region’
The Greater Augusta Regional Chamber of Commerce has awarded scholarships to 21 local high school seniors totaling tens of thousands of dollars.
The scholarships can be used for vocational or technical schooling, credentialing programs, and two- or four-year colleges.
The scholarship recipients are chosen each year based on a one-page essay or video presentation, educator or personal references, school and community activities, and overall high school transcripts. The scholarships are given in individual amounts of $1,000.
“We are impressed year after year by the accomplishments of our exceptional local students,” Chamber President and CEO Courtney Thompson said in a statement announcing the recipients. “It is a privilege to be a small part of their continuing educational journey, and we extend our best wishes for continued success in their future endeavors. We are deeply grateful to our generous scholarship sponsors, whose support makes these opportunities possible.”
