The Municipal Retirees Organization Ontario (MROO) has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to more than 30 Ontario students this year. These scholarships support post-secondary education for family members of MROO members, rewarding leadership, volunteerism, and community impact.
Scholarships were distributed across each of the nine MROO zones, with two winners being named from the London area.
Isabel Suffel from Aylmer and Samantha Payne of London each received $3,000. Both students are studying at Brock University, with Suffel in Concurrent Education and Payne in Mathematics, Physics, and Education.
Dave Posliff, Director of Zone 2, explains the importance of the MROO Scholarship Program, “We are delighted to support our members’ families by offering these MROO Scholarships every year. We realize how expensive everything is right now – especially for students – and want to ease some of their stress so they can focus on their studies. Congratulations to Isabel and Samantha!”
