The Badgers are upgrading a walk-on wideout to a scholarship.
The Wisconsin Badgers have placed senior wide receiver Haakon Anderson on scholarship, they announced Tuesday.
#Badgers put WR Haakon Anderson on scholarship.
Had gotten a lot of praise from coaches this spring for leadership. https://t.co/jKGqu7QDZH
Anderson, a 6’1, 200-pound receiver from Verona, Wisconsin, had committed to the Badgers in the Class of 2020 as a walk-on.
In 2023, Anderson caught his first career pass with the Badgers, while playing in all 13 games on special teams.
While Anderson mainly worked with the reserves this offseason in spring ball, he was lauded by both head coach Luke Fickell and wideouts coach Kenny Guiton for his approach and improved leadership by example.
The Badgers now have 11 scholarship receivers, as Tommy McIntosh left the program, while Boston College transfer Joseph Griffin Jr. and Anderson were added to the group.
