The Benjamin Logan Board of Education held its regular meeting on Monday evening.
Members approved minutes from several past meetings, along with Memorandums of Understanding covering the district’s evaluation process and transportation training.
October Seniors of the Month, Winnie Bodin and Wyatt LeVan, were recognized for their academic and personal achievements.
The board also heard updates from Sally Green of the Ohio School Boards Association and from the Logan County Education Foundation.
Foundation representative Lois Stoll and trustees introduced the new Legacy Scholarship Fund, which will provide an annual scholarship to a Benjamin Logan student maintaining at least a 3.0 GPA and active involvement in school or community activities.
The fund’s first seed donation of $550, given by the Benjamin Logan Class of 1980, came with a challenge for all past, present, and future classes to contribute.
The Benjamin Logan, Logan County Education Foundation Trustees include Bill Ramsey, Danielle Jenkins, Tami Himmeger, Terri Penhorwood, Melony Baker, and Jackie Tingley (not in attendance).
Treasurer Leah Baker presented the September financial report, approving all expenditures and a $50,000 advance from the General Fund to Athletics, to be repaid by July 2026.
She also emphasized the financial instability resulting from developments at the Statehouse, which would have significant impacts on school funding.
Superintendent John Scheu presented several personnel items, including new classified hires, hourly Raider Care staff, and supplemental coaching and activity contracts for the 2025–2026 school year.

Elementary Principal Holly Barr reported strong participation in parent-teacher conferences and thanked Honda for the recent All Kids Bike grant.
Middle School Principal Todd Shadley announced the middle school earned a 4.5-star rating on the state report card for the third straight year and highlighted the school’s new outdoor learning area.
High School Principal Annette Alatorre shared that 45 students will be inducted into the National Honor Society during an all-school assembly on October 21 and reviewed a busy calendar of fall events, including district tournaments and the upcoming High School Play – Death of a Salesman on November 14–15.
