Bienenstock Furniture Library Awards 2025 Student Scholarships – Furniture World Magazine

The Bienenstock Furniture Library awarded five student scholarships during its fifth annual Future Designers Summit, held September 24–26, 2025, in High Point, North Carolina.
The scholarship recipients were selected from a group of 34 students representing 14 colleges and universities nationwide. Each student submitted a personal essay and samples from their design portfolios as part of the application process.
2025 scholarship recipients include:
Broyhill Family Foundation Scholarship ($5,000): Christian Hess, Industrial Design student at Appalachian State University.
High Point Market Authority Scholarship ($1,000): Kauner Shacklette, Architecture and Historic Preservation student at University of Kentucky.
Scott Coley Design Scholarship ($500): Hannah Hicks, Interior Design student at Randolph Community College.
Nancy Fire Design Scholarship ($500): Yarlin Ramirez, Interior Architecture student at Salem College.
Bienenstock Furniture Library Scholarship: Julia Erickson, Interior Design student at High Point University.
The Future Designers Summit offers students a three-day immersive program of education and networking. This year’s keynote speakers included Lisa Kahn (Finding Sanctuary), Natalie Miller (Sherwin Williams), and Tammy Covington (High Point Market Authority).
Students also participated in tours of furniture showrooms and manufacturing facilities, including Cohab Space, Feizy Rugs, Phillips Collection, Universal Furniture, and Verellen Furniture. The opening night dinner was sponsored by Hooker Furniture.
Summit sponsors included Davis Furniture, Gary Inman Home Couture, Furniture World Magazine, IFDA Education Foundation, Gabriele Natale, Richard Frinier Design Studio, Rock House Farms Family of Brands, and others. These contributions helped offset travel, lodging, meals, and program development for student participants.

About the Furniture Library
Founded in 1970, The Bernice Bienenstock Furniture Library located in High Point, NC, is a world-class research facility for information on furniture, interiors, architecture, textiles, finishes and construction. Significant among the Library’s 5,000+ holdings are contemporary acquisitions and a rare books collection of international volumes published since 1640, including a complete collection of original works by 18th century furniture masters Chippendale, Sheraton, Hepplewhite, and a complete set of Diderot’s Encyclopedia.
