Early March, a local carwash in Selma known as a Big River honored one of their student employees.
Chase Guthridge was awarded a $16,000 scholarship to go off to college.
Guthridge applied to Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, where he was recently accepted as a 2025 graduating senior of Selma High School. Through the university’s Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships, he was awarded a $16,000 academic recognition scholarship to attend the university in the fall.
Like Guthridge, Big River Carwash said they have employed a lot of kids who continuously work through high school and leave to go to college.
“And, we love being a part of their journey,” said Big River Carwash, through a statement online. “We would like to spotlight one of our Selma employees, Chase. Chase has grown with us over the past couple years and has been an asset to our team. He works hard at Big River and at school. Congratulations on this scholarship.”
The scholarship provided to Guthridge covers eight semesters. According to Guthridge’s reaction on social media regarding the news, he is happy about his latest achievement.
