Now that the graduation season has concluded here in Bladen County, at BladenOnline, we would like to conclude our high school senior spotlights by proudly celebrating the remarkable achievements of all of the high school seniors from the three Bladen County high schools: Bladen Early College High School, East Bladen High School, and West Bladen High School. All three of our county high schools nurtured a graduating class that personifies resilience, dedication, and promise for the future.
First to the spotlight is Bladen Early College High School(BECHS). With a high school senior class of 33 students, BECHS has set a high standard for academic excellence. As a class, the students have been awarded over 450,000 dollars in scholarships, showcasing their commitment to pursuing higher education. Regarding college decisions, the University of North Carolina at Pembroke is the top in-state choice, and the Academy of Arts University is one of their out-of-state choices. BECHS class 2024 has 26 students who will be continuing their educational journey in college and seven entering the workforce prepared to make their mark.
Next under the spotlight is East Bladen High School(EBHS). The 2024 graduating class at EBHS comprises 121 students who have collectively accumulated an impressive 1,358,032 dollars in scholarships. The EBHS seniors also have received acceptance to many institutions, like East Carolina University, Campbell University, and North Carolina State University. EBHS 2024 seniors have also received acceptances to reputable historically black colleges and universities such as Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, Howard University, and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. With the entire class on different tracks to take on the world, EBHS has 72 students going on collegiate paths, 44 students entering the workforce, and five students committed to defending our country. Also, out of the 72 students embarking on their collegiate journey, four will take on athletic careers at the next level.
Finally, West Bladen High School(WBHS) is in the spotlight. Securing 222,900 dollars in scholarships, the senior class of WBHS, comprised of 138 students, is a change maker with noteworthy acceptances from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Alabama State University, Oklahoma State University, and Westminster University. WBHS has 63 students headed to college, an impressive 71 students joining the workforce, and four students have chosen to serve in defense of our nation. WBHS has three students out of the 63 who will continue their athletic pursuits at the collegiate level.
The Bladen County Class of 2024 has made inspiring accomplishments that will affect students to come and leave a lasting impact on our community. Their accomplishments and the heights they have reached are not just statistics but a reflection of their hard work, determination, perseverance, and the support they receive from their educators and families. As each graduating senior goes down their unique path, I am sure they will carry pride and understanding of the encouragement from our community.
