Bluestem Electric Cooperative has awarded ten scholarships this spring totaling $9,000 to this year’s high school graduating seniors whose parents are members of Bluestem Electric Cooperative (BEC).
Winners are selected based upon online application data, scores received from an electric cooperative test and a personal interview with a panel of six scholarship committee judges.

Jay Bohnenblust who farms in Riley and Clay counties sent me a photograph of a huge flock of birds in a corral on a farm near the intersection of Broughton Road and Utah Road. He asked if I could identify them.
I don’t recall seeing a bobcat when I was growing up in Wyoming and Colorado in spite of spending a great deal of time out in some pretty wild places. I suspect that may have been because there was more hunting and trapping of furbearers in those days than now.
