BUTLER — The Butler Memorial Hospital (BMH) Foundation, a charitable arm of Independence Health System, has awarded two $2,500 scholarships to employees working in Butler or Clarion counties through Butler Memorial Hospital, Butler Medical Providers, or Clarion Hospital. The scholarships support individuals who are advancing their careers in the healthcare industry, particularly in nursing.
Funded through the Carol and Richard Dietrich Educational Fund and administered by the BMH Foundation, the scholarships are awarded annually based on essay submissions outlining applicants’ educational goals and how the scholarship will help them achieve those goals by supporting their professional development. This year, 18 employees applied for scholarships.
Since the inception of the Scholarship Program in 2018, more than 14 scholarships totaling over $40,000 have been awarded to support healthcare education in the region.
This year’s winners are Donna Tucker and Nathaniel Weber.
Donna, a medical assistant with the BMP Clarion Residency Program, will attend PennWest Clarion University to pursue a degree in nursing.
Nathaniel, an emergency care technician in the Emergency Department at Butler Memorial Hospital, will attend AHN’s Citizens School of Nursing. He also aspires to become a nurse.
“We are proud to support our dedicated employees as they advance in their healthcare careers,” said Kris Bowser, manager of the Butler Memorial Hospital Foundation. “The commitment that Donna and Nathaniel show to patient care and their professional development is truly inspiring. We are grateful for the generous support of the Dietrich family through this educational fund, which makes these opportunities possible year after year.”
