The Uvalde Athletic Booster Club presented scholarship awards to four 2025 Uvalde High School graduates at the July 9 meeting of the club.
Victoria Martinez and Jaxon Parker each received a $2,000 scholarship, Natalie Ramos was presented with a $1,500 scholarship, while Ashlynn Aguero was the recipient of a $1,500 scholarship.
UABC secretary Cheryl Sanchez presented the awards to Martinez, Parker, and Ramos.
Aguero was unable to attend the meeting.
The club’s scholarship awards were made based on essays written by the student-athletes, through recommendations made by the UHS coaching staff, and on the student-athletes’ grades.
On Aug. 13, the next meeting of the booster club will be held. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 13 in the War Room located next to the Uvalde High School Athletic Dept. office.
Among the items to be discussed at the meeting will be the preparations for the UABC’s football programs, which are sold at Friday night home football games.
Aug. 16 is the deadline for purchasing ads for this year’s football program.
The booster club raises money for all sports at Uvalde High School.
Revenue raised by the club for the athletic program comes through memberships, concession stand sales, merchandise sales, and other fundraising events.
The booster club’s 2025-26 membership drive is underway.
“We invite parents and all other fans to join the club,” said booster club president Jo Francis Massey. “The best way to support of Coyotes and Lobos is to join the athletic booster club.”
Cost for a general membership is $25.
For more information, see the booster club’s Facebook page.
Besides Massey, other booster club officers for the upcoming school year include vice president Matt Hughes, secretary Cheryl Sanchez, and treasurer Velen Galindo.
