Boys & Girls Clubs of Fresno County hosted a ceremony on Tuesday celebrating the 2025 recipients of the Ken & Muriel Quenzer Scholarship, awarded annually to graduating high school students aiming to continue their education.
The scholarship, which this year increased from $1,500 to $2,500, was presented to Julian Aguirre and Angel Facio Serna. Each recipient was also surprised with laptops and laptop bags at the presentation ceremony, which was attended by Boys & Girls Clubs Board of Directors members Ken and Muriel Quenzer, as well as Jason Hannold, the newly appointed CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs administration.
“I am so proud of both Angel and Julian for their accomplishments and for doing the work required to earn this scholarship,” said Stephanie Santos, Pinedale Club Director. “Knowing their goals, and their plan gives me so much confidence in their future. I can’t wait to see what they do.”
The scholarship, which is available to members of Boys & Girls Clubs of Fresno County, is offered to students after submitting a 600-word essay, as well as college/school acceptance letters and various letters of reference. Students must also maintain a minimum 2.5 overall GPA.
“Because of the Boys & Girls Clubs, I know my future will be great,” Aguirre said. “They have given me hope, and the ability to pursue my dreams.”
Boys & Girls Clubs of Fresno County is a nonprofit that has served Fresno County for 76 years and has 14 locations throughout the region. Serving youth ages 6 to 18, the organization aims to enable all youth to reach their full potential and provides safe, educational and positive environments and programs for youth both after school and year round.
