Bossier Parish Community College and the BPCC Foundation are proud to announce the establishment of an endowed scholarship for first generation college students with a principal amount of $50,000. This significant scholarship endowment, the Karen S. Moore Endowed Scholarship for First Generation College Students, was made possible through the generosity and forward vision of Gary and Karen Moore.
The Moores have been supporters of BPCC for over 30 years. Mrs. Karen Moore joined the BPCC faculty as a math instructor in the academic year 1983-1984, after serving as an educator for approximately 10 years with Bossier Parish Public Schools. Mrs. Moore became the chairperson for the BPCC Division of Math & Technology in 1995 and served in that role until 1999. In July 1999, she was promoted to Associate Professor of Mathematics and taught BPCC students until her retirement in 2010.
The Moore family was honored at a special reception on the BPCC campus in commemoration of the scholarship. Through their philanthropic spirit and dedication to improving the lives of deserving students, the Moores have established a legacy of giving back that will impact lifetimes.
Bossier Parish Community College and the BPCC Foundation are honored to continue this legacy to benefit BPCC first generation students for many years to come.
