HOUGHTON, Mich. (WBUP/WJMN) — Breakwater Federal Credit Union awarded three area high school students with $1,000 scholarships at its 71st Annual Business Meeting and Dinner.
Applicants were graded on the length of their membership with Breakwater as well as the quality of the essays and reference letters. This year’s scholarship recipients include Lily Etelamaki from Chassell Township Schools and Ethan Hainault and Ella Roy from Houghton High School.
Also at the dinner, Breakwater donated $2,500 to the Copper County Police and Fire Relief Fund, which provides support to community members displaced by fires or other emergencies.
