Rochester, N.Y. — Our Bright Spot shines on paving the way for higher education.
Monroe Community College said it awarded a record $2 million in scholarships this academic year.
76% of them were awarded based on financial need.
MCC said the record-breaking year was thanks to the generosity of donors giving to the Monroe Community College Foundation.
“This achievement reflects the passion, dedication, and generosity of our entire MCC community,” Gretchen Wood, executive director of the MCC Foundation, said in a statement. “We extend our sincerest gratitude to our hardworking students, exceptional faculty and staff, and to the donors whose support turns dreams into reality. The Foundation’s vision is that every student has the support they need to be successful.”
The MCC Foundation also provides emergency financial assistance to address food and housing insecurity, offers child care aid and parent-focused resources, invests in innovative academic and workforce development programs and contributes to capital improvements that enrich the campus learning environment.
