P.E.O. Chapter S of Broken Bow has announced that Gaby Staples of Broken Bow has been awarded their STAR scholarship in the amount of $2,500. Following graduation from Broken Bow, Staples will be attending Bryan College of Health Science in Lincoln. She is the daughter of Cory and Amy Staples.
A highly competitive one-time non-renewable scholarship, the STAR scholarship recognizes women in their final year of high school who demonstrate outstanding leadership, academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and community service and who plan to pursue full or part time postsecondary education in the US or Canada beginning in the fall following their high school graduation.
Most recent information available indicates that 1,000 STAR scholarships were awarded in the United States and Canada in 2023 by P.E.O. international.
Founded in 1869, the P.E.O. Sisterhood is a philanthropic educational organization for women with a focus on supporting women’s educational goals through scholarships, grants, and loans. There are over 210,000 members in the United States and Canada.
