In addition to electing officers, Matt Hube, the Treasurer, presented the Bulloch County Historical Society Scholarships to three deserving students. Hube expressed his gratitude for being able to serve on the scholarship committee and highlighted the unique aspect of the society's scholarships, which do not impose restrictions on how the funds are used by the recipients.
The scholarship selection process involved evaluating essays, GPA, class ranking, documentation of community service hours, and letters of recommendation. After a thorough review, three students were chosen as scholarship recipients:
The scholarships, totaling $4,500, were funded through memorial gifts contributed by members and residents of the community. These gifts are collected in a dedicated account, which currently holds approximately $10,000. The scholarships aim to support local students in pursuing their higher education goals and carry forward the legacy of past society members.
Hube encouraged continued support for the scholarship program through memorial gifts and emphasized the importance of investing in the education and future of young individuals within the community. The society's commitment to nurturing the next generation was evident through the impressive group of scholarship recipients recognized at the meeting, reflecting a bright future for the community.
The Bulloch County Historical Society's dedication to preserving history and supporting education was evident through the successful election of officers and the awarding of scholarships to deserving students, marking a significant milestone in the society's ongoing contributions to the local community.
