Six area high school seniors received scholarships totaling $10,500 as part of the 2025 “Women with Heart” scholarship contest hosted by CHRISTUS Health.
More than 30 videos were submitted from area high school students, and six were selected. Students were tasked with creating and submitting a video that focused on American Heart Month with a goal of raising awareness for heart disease in women.
Reagan Thompson, a Parkway High School student, was named the winner, earning the $5,000 grand prize.

Jhori George of North Desoto High School won second and was awarded $2,500 scholarship funds. Diana Gaeta from Bossier High School won third place and $1,500 scholarship funds.
The remaining finalists, Arjun Desai of Caddo Parish Magnet High School, Morganne Downey of Haughton High School and Seth Logan of C.E. Byrd High School, each received $500.
“We wanted them to learn about heart health and specifically the impact heart disease has on women,” said Deb Chelette, regional vice president of cardiovascular services with CHRISTUS Health.

Centenary College of Louisiana signed a Memorandum of Understanding, stating that all qualified Centenary students are guaranteed admission to the Clinton School of Public Service master’s program at the University of Arkansas.
The Clinton School is the first in the nation to offer this advanced degree, and it is an experiential learning process as field work is integrated into studies.
“I am very pleased that Centenary is entering this new partnership,” said Dr. Christopher Holoman, Centenary College of Louisiana president. “Public service is an important part of the college’s history, identity and mission, so this is a wonderful opportunity for our students to continue their studies at a distinguished academic institution.”
Centenary students or alumni who have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher are guaranteed admission into the program, and merit scholarships are available for qualified applicants.
The Clinton School of Public Service at the University of Arkansas is located Little Rock, on the grounds of the William J. Clinton Presidential Center and Park.
David Price, MD, has joined the Willis Knighton Physician Network, and will practice at Willis Knighton Urologic Oncology Pierremont.
Price brings with him surgical care for patients with benign and malignant diseases of the urinary system as well as treatment for general urology problems, including benign prostatic hyperplasia and kidney stones.
Price is a native of Minden and has more than 28 years of experience in urologic cancer procedures and more than 20 years of experience performing complex robotic surgical procedures.
He chose his specialty during a general surgery residency at Duke University Medical Center, where he also completed his urology and urological oncology fellowships. While at Duke he was an American Foundation of Urological Disease Research Scholar.
