Christian Academy of Carrollton’s Elianna Fromme has been named a semifinalists in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program.
The daughter of Kurt and Carolyn Fromme of Glencoe, Kentucky, Fromme is a senior at Christian Academy. She is undecided on her college choice but is interested in studying education.
The prestigious distinction places her among an elite group of students, representing less than one percent of all high school seniors across the United States.
Fromme earned the honor based on her outstanding performance on the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®). Each year, more than 1.3 million juniors from approximately 21,000 high schools enter the program. This year, only about 16,000 of those entrants qualified as semifinalists, a testament to their exceptional academic promise.
As semifinalists, she now has the opportunity to continue in the competition for approximately 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million that will be offered next spring. To advance to Finalist standing, Semifinalists must submit a detailed scholarship application that includes information about their academic record, participation in school and community activities, leadership abilities, employment, and honors and awards received.
National Merit Scholarship winners will be announced beginning in March 2026. Merit Scholar designees are selected based on their abilities, skills, and accomplishments — without regard to gender, race, ethnic origin, or religious preference.
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended Students placed among the top scorers of more than 1.3 million students who entered the competition by taking the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
