The San Antonio Cactus and Xerophyte Society (SACXS) awarded five scholarships to recent high school graduates from Bexar County and the surrounding seven counties on June 18.
Among the recipients were Chloe Nieschwitz of Pleasanton and Kianna Cruz of Jourdanton, who each received $1,000 from the Paul Kibler Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship honors the late Paul Kibler, a life member of SACXS and former Schertz resident.
The scholarships were presented at the regular SACXS meeting held at the San Antonio Garden Center.
The Paul Kibler Memorial Scholarship was established in 2022, following the creation of the Larry Murphy Memorial Scholarship in 2019. To date, SACXS has awarded more than $20,000 in scholarships.
