California Credit Union Foundation has awarded 20 scholarships of $1,000 each to college-bound students in Los Angeles and Ventura counties, including two from Pasadena.
The foundation recognized students who are active in their schools and communities, demonstrating exceptional commitment to education and service. Two Pasadena students among the recipients are Silva Pinto from John Muir Early College Magnet and Jeanne Samiley from Marshall Fundamental Secondary School.
“We are proud to recognize this year’s outstanding scholarship recipients, whose hard work, determination and commitment to their education truly set them apart,” said California Credit Union Foundation President Marvel Ford. “These students represent the bright future of our communities, and we’re honored to support them as they take the next steps in their academic journeys.”
Established in 2005, the scholarship program has distributed more than $455,000 to students across San Diego, Riverside, Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura counties. Eligible students must maintain a minimum 3.0 grade point average and plan to attend an accredited college or university.
The foundation serves as the philanthropic arm of California Credit Union, which was named a Forbes Best-In-State Credit Union in 2024. With assets over $5 billion and approximately 200,000 members, the credit union funds all administrative costs of the foundation, ensuring 100% of donations support community programs.
