The TUM SEED Center is a Centre of Excellence for Exchange, Research, and Collaboration in Sustainable Energy Entrepreneurship and Development in the Global South, funded by DAAD and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ, 2020–2029). It brings together 11 leading technical universities across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, including Stellenbosch University, Makerere University, IIT Bombay, and others.
Through its interdisciplinary doctoral program, SEED fosters international academic exchange, high-quality research, and practical impact in sustainable energy entrepreneurship.
This PhD scholarship focuses on scaling and impact of sustainable enterprises in the mini-grid sector, contributing directly to SDG 7: Clean and Affordable Energy for All by 2030. Scholars will engage with Living Labs across SEED partner universities, participate in symposia, and collaborate internationally.
