The Kentucky Community and Technical College System announced the first recipients of the newly established KCTCS 4-H Scholarship.
Four high school graduates from across the commonwealth have been selected to receive $1,000 each to support their education at a community college during the 2025-2026 academic year. Among those is Hailey Smith, a Campbell County High School graduate.

Smith will attend Gateway Community and Technical College to earn an associate’s degree in science, leading to a degree in radiologic technology.
“These students represent the very best of 4-H leadership and service, and we are honored to celebrate their achievements through this scholarship as they begin their college journey,” said KCTCS President Ryan Quarles. “The KCTCS 4-H Scholarship reflects our shared commitment to helping young Kentuckians build brighter futures for themselves, their families and communities.”
The KCTCS 4-H Scholarship, launched in 2025 in partnership with Kentucky 4-H, provides four $1,000 non-renewable awards each academic year. Scholarships are split into $500 payments for the fall and spring semesters and may be used at any of the system’s 16 colleges. Eligible applicants must be high school seniors and active 4-H members, demonstrate academic merit, maintain at least a 2.0 GPA, and show unmet financial need.
