At the CAN DO Community Foundation’s Board of Directors meeting, an update on the foundation’s Penn State Hazleton Scholarship program was provided by Gary F. Lamont, president.
The presentation included the annual scholarship awards announcement and the status of the endowment.
The recipients who were awarded during this scholarship round were Jack Holovacko, Gabriel. Palandro, Christian Smith and Zachary Walp.
Using the foundation’s scholarship eligibility profile, developed by the foundation at the time of establishing the endowment, recipient recommendations are decided by a Penn State University committee.
The fully endowed scholarship program has awarded 69 scholarships since the original gift was made to the University in 2005. The fund continues to grow, allowing for increased scholarships to new and existing students to begin and continue their education at the Hazleton campus. The scholarship recipients will be recognized at the annual Highacres Society Dinner on Wednesday, April 23.
