The Simperman-Corette Foundation is funding six new full-tuition scholarships for Montana undergraduate students at Carroll College.
Three of the scholarships will be dedicated to students who come to Carroll after graduating from Butte Central High School and the three others will be dedicated toward incoming math and science majors.
The scholarships, when combined with $18,000-$26,000 merit scholarships, will cover the students’ full tuition and fees of nearly $45,000.
“These scholarships carry forward both my father’s deep belief in the transformative power of Catholic education and my mother’s family legacy of generosity,” said Roy W. Simperman Jr., trustee of the Simperman-Corette Foundation. “Carroll was where my father’s life changed – where hard work, faith, and opportunity came together to set him on a path of success. It was always his wish, shared by my mother, Diane, and the Corette family, that future generations could experience that same life-changing education without financial barriers.”

For the scholarships for Butte Central graduates, students only need to apply for admission and for the school’s general scholarship application while completing the FAFSA. Students who remain in good academic standing will have the scholarships renewed each year.
Applicants for the math and science scholarships must have a minimum 3.75 high school GPA and in addition to the other requirements, participate in an on-campus interview during the college’s yearly President’s Recognition Event. They will also have to maintain a 3.5 GPA in their major to have the scholarship renewed.
Carroll’s annual full-time tuition and costs are $57,306, and students on average receive $31,353 in gift aid each year, leaving about $26,000 in annual charges, according to the college.
The foundation is also funding the Elsie P. Corette Scholarship Fund and the Roy F. Simperman Math, Science, and Nursing Scholarships, which so far have provided more than $2.8 million in scholarships for more than 330 Carroll students.
“We are deeply thankful to the Simperman and Corette families for their continued generosity and belief in Carroll’s mission. Their support, along with that of so many dedicated donors, demonstrates the transformative power of philanthropy in changing students’ lives.,” said Jennifer Glowienka, Carroll College co-president.
Bishop Austin Vetter, Carroll College co-president, added, “Together, these gifts ensure that a Carroll education remains accessible to deserving students who will go on to make a difference in their communities and beyond.”
