Carroll College awarded 14 students in math, science and nursing programs with $158,000 in scholarships Tuesday through a 53-year-old program supporting college students.
The grants were through the Roy F. Simperman Math, Science and Nursing Scholarship and the Elsie P. Corette Memorial Scholarship.
Over the years, the Corette and Simperman scholarships have awarded over $2,980,000 to more than 346 students, with their average award this year over $11,280.
Five Montana students intending to pursue medical school following graduation were awarded the 2025-2026 Corette Scholarship, which was available to Carroll pre-med majors from Montana.

Simperman Scholarship recipients were Brynn Bohrer of Billings, Nicole Nau of Sunburst and Ashlynn Belleghem of Big Timber, all biology majors; Luci Horn of Townsend and Abigail Carney of Helena, both math majors; Alexis Cook of Great Falls, Samantha Labrum of Kalispell, Allison Streekstra of Florence and Zoey Wickens of Townsend, all nursing majors.
“We are honored to carry forward the incredible legacy of Roy F. Simperman,” John Cech, Carroll College president, said in a news release. “His visionary support and belief in the potential of Montana students have made an enduring difference. We are deeply grateful to his wife, Frances Simperman, and their family, including Roy Jr., who are continuing this tradition of generosity. Their commitment is not only a tribute to Roy’s life and values but a powerful investment in the future of our students.”
Cech said the scholarships empower students to pursue meaningful careers in medicine, science and nursing, where they can give back to their communities.
“The Corette and Simperman families’ generosity is a lasting gift that inspires excellence and opportunity,” he said.
