Carteret Community College is gearing up for its annual "Taste of the South" event, a culinary showcase that supports student scholarships. The event, organized by the Black History Committee and the Culinary Arts Program, will feature a variety of appetizers, entrees, and desserts crafted by the college's students.
Scheduled for Thursday, June 19, at 6 p.m., the event will take place on the CCC campus in Morehead City. Organizers have announced that 40 percent of the proceeds will be allocated to student scholarships.
Dajah Sandifer, a graduate of the CCC Culinary Program, encouraged community participation. "You should come out to support the students and all of the good things that we do and learn throughout the semesters. It's a really good event to support the students," she said.
Faith Williams, a current culinary student, emphasized the importance of scholarships. "I don't know where I would be without a scholarship and without help from the college, so for us, doing these events and raising money to help someone else is very fantastic, and it all comes full circle," she said.
The menu for the event is designed and prepared by both current culinary students and graduates. Tickets are still available, and more information can be found by clicking here.
