Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) and the CCBC Foundation is proud to announce a new scholarship funded by The Wright Promise for Beaver County high school students enrolling in Community College of Beaver County’s (CCBC) award-winning High School Academies.
With a $25,000 donation to the Foundation, The Wright Promise Scholarship will award 25 $1,000 need based scholarships to qualified Beaver County high school juniors or seniors.
“The Wright Promise’s generous contribution invests not just in CCBC but in the Beaver Valley community,” said Dean of College Here and Now, Lauren Susan. “More local students will gain access to an in-demand career pathway and an early start to college.”
CCBC’s High School Academies CCBC’s provide Western Pennsylvania’s young people with high-impact educational experiences to prepare them for careers that address the priority workforce needs of the region. Launched in 2015, the CCBC High School Academy program now educates more than 200 students from 80 different school districts through an innovative dual enrollment model in which students can explore five career pathways in aviation, health, criminal justice, STEM, and education while receiving hands-on instruction from college faculty.
Students who devote two years of study to the program will have the opportunity to graduate from high school having completed up to one year of credits toward CCBC’s associate degree programs, or they can transfer the credits to other colleges and universities. Through premier partnerships with four-year college programs, many academy graduates can complete a bachelor’s degree in three years or less.
“At The Wright Promise, our core promise areas—faith, family, service, education, and leadership—guide our every step,” said Bryan Wright, president of The Wright Promise. “This scholarship is an investment in the dreams of Beaver County students. By supporting their pursuit of education and career goals, we hope to help them build a strong foundation for a bright and meaningful future.”
