Cemex is making donations equivalent to $8,500 to support various programs at Lyons Middle Senior High School.
The cement company donated $2,500 to the Lyons Lions Booster Club, a parent-led volunteer organization that provides vital aid for the students, teachers and parents.
“From classroom learning materials and field trips to musical instruments and sports uniforms, the Lions Booster Club provides financial support to reduce expenses for the school and parents, while enhancing the overall student experience,” the company said in a news release.
In addition, Cemex will be the Pride of Lyons sponsor for the Booster Club’s 2024 program.
Its $5,000 contribution will support education, arts and athletic activities for students, in addition to science and leadership support, technology materials, student enrichment activities and staff professional development.
President of the Booster Club, Audra Felt said the money will help fund essentials for students.
“We rely on community donations like this to fulfill our mission of enhancing the development of all students, inside the classroom and through extracurricular activities,” said the Booster Club's president Audra Felt.
And this May, one Lyons Middle Senior High School graduating senior will receive the $1,000 Cemex Environmental Stewardship Scholarship.
“This annual trade scholarship is awarded to a student planning to pursue trade or vocational fields such as advanced manufacturing, construction management, electrical work, engineering, journeyman roles, mechanical trades, plumbing or technical disciplines,” the company stated.
Cemex will be giving out three additional $1,000 trade scholarships to senior students across the St. Vrain Valley School District.
“We’re proud to continue our support of the school and booster club this year and appreciative of the opportunity to have a role in creating an enriched educational experience for students both in the classroom and outside of it through music, sports, arts or other school-sponsored activities,” said Michael Clausen, the Lyons plant’s corporate social responsibility manager.
