CENTERVILLE, Texas (KBTX) – Tiger Gym at Centerville High School doesn’t traditionally see big crowds in their gym in May, but this morning the entire high school and junior high student bodies were on hand as 12 students announce their college plans.
High School Principal Claudia Mordecai announced that three students would be attending a United States Service Academy. Ivan Jordan is going the Marines.
While Tannon Jack is bound for the Air Force Academy and Tyler Stanford will be going to West Point as he looks to join the Army.
Tiger Athletic Director Kyle Hardee announced that five football players will play at the next level. Zantayl Holley is headed to Howard Payne.
Teammates Keaton Crowley and James Wright are both headed to Prairie View A&M to join the Panthers.
Drennan Starns is going to play at Texas Wesleyan in the fall while Riley Winkler is going to be a Cowboy at Hardin-Simmons University.
Wade Neyland will travel just down I-45 to Sam Houston and will play for Chris Mudge and the Bearkat men’s basketball team.
He can carpool with Wes Henson who is also going to be a Bearkat as a theater major.
Former football player Cort Boyd will be joining the rodeo team at Southwest Texas Junior College.
And Trayce Schuab is headed for Jacksonville College to join the Jaguar golf team.
Coach Hardee said Centerville High School could have two students receive athletic scholarships before the school year ends.
