César Vásquez, secretary of the Higher Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation Agency (Senescyt), recently spoke with KCH FM about the scholarship programs funded by the Ecuadorian Government.
“Never before in Ecuador has such a significant amount been allocated to the higher education budget until Daniel Noboa’s administration,» Vásquez stated.
In the previous year, a total of $1.319 billion was allocated to universities and polytechnic schools. This year, the same amount has been granted, bringing the total to over $2.600 billion in funding for higher education.
Vásquez emphasized that these programs benefit more than 400,000 Ecuadorians. The scholarships cover a variety of areas, including academic support, access to education, skills mastery, technical and technological training, and continuous English language education.
Looking ahead, Vásquez explained that in the coming months, the programs will prioritize improving access to education for those wishing to enroll in universities and technical institutes.
Additionally, the continuous education programs will offer scholarships for English courses ranging from A1 to B2 levels, as well as specialized training in fields such as accounting, electromechanics, and software management and development.
Vásquez announced that, as part of his recent international tour, President Noboa achieved new agreements with Saudi Arabia and China. These collaborations will provide scholarships focused on artificial intelligence and management, respectively.
With this background, we anticipate that the national Government will continue to negotiate bilateral and multilateral agreements with countries around the world to secure more scholarships aligned with modern technology and Ecuador’s needs.
