CFSB celebrated 16 graduating students from Western Kentucky
(Benton, KY)-Community Financial Services Bank (CFSB) is proud to announce the 16 recipients of the CFSB Student Scholarship Program after receiving over 240 applicants from high school seniors across Calloway, Graves, Marshall, and McCracken counties.
Scholarships were awarded to students based on their academic achievement, community and school involvement and information presented in the writing prompt based on the 5 vision points of CFSB; Culture, Community, Leadership, Value and Commitment. Each student received $1000 to be used for any post-graduation path during a surprise personalized mini-celebration at their school with the CFSB Team and their family members. Jillian Newsome, Graves County High School
Newsome was a missionary at Starfish Orphanage. She has been a Volunteer Bible School teacher, Farmington Church of Christ Chaperone and does volunteer yard work. She’s also a blood donor and has worked with Clothes for Africa.
Addisynn McAlpin, Northside Baptist Christian School
McAlphin was a Sunday school teacher at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, was a volunteer member at ASAP and was a student ambassador at the Hope Center. She has volunteered at Operation Christmas Child loading boxes since 2021, volunteers at the Graves County Food Pantry and many other volunteer opportunities after the tornado.
Skylar Mandry, Mayfield High School
Mandry was the captain of the Mayfield High School volleyball team and the captain of the Mayfield High School Girls’ basketball team. She was also a member of the Mayfield PEP Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, PureCards, Beta Club, FBLA, This is Us Club and Interact Club. She volunteered at several church events and created a clothing drive for residents of Mayfield Health and Rehab after the tornado.
Abigail Sanchez, Mayfield High School
Sanchez was involved in Cheerleading, Band, Foreign Languages, Cultural Diversity, Leo Club, Key Club, Library Council, PureCards, Interact Club, Beta Club, GT, FBLA, Youth Leadership and was president of the Book Club. She has been a bell ringer for the Salvation Army, volunteer at Gourd Fest and with Operation Chirmsast Child Stomp for a Cure, Pumpkins in the Park and many more local opportunities.
Owen Cody, McCracken County High School
Cody was a part of the Kentucky Department of Education Commissioner’s Student Advisory Council, Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce, Youth LEAD, Beta Club, Young Democrats, All-State Jazz Ensemble, McBig Jazz Band, Rhythm Section Leader, Wind Ensemble, Mustang Pep Band, Paducah Jazz Patrol, The Cruisers Pianist, American Guild of Organists and the Southern Illinois Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. He was a Commonwealth of Kentucky Ambassador, Paducah Junior Rotarian, Kentucky Boys State Delegate, Kentucky Governor’s Scholar, AP Scholar with Distinction, MCHS National Honor Society, President of the MCHS SGA, Community Outreach Officer and MCHS Academic Team Captain. He was also on the Quick Recall Team and MCHS Science Bowl Team. Cody has volunteered for organizations like Starfish Orphan Ministries, the Salvation Army, Community Kitchen, Paducah Cooperative Ministries, LOTUS and the Paducah Creative City Tourism Center among many other local opportunities.
Miller Green, McCracken County High School
Green was a part of the McCracken County Basketball Team, the Pep Club, FCA, NHS and was a peer tutor. He’s also volunteered with the Salvation Army, Special Olympics, BBQ on the River, Christmas in the Park and Scarf in the Park. Green has volunteered for organizations like the Salvation Army, Special Olympics, BBQ on the River, Christmas in the Park and Scarf in the Park.
Kiana Powers, Paducah Tilghman High School
Powers was involved in creating her school yearbook and has assisted in running a shoe drive for the school. She has plans to pursue architecture at University of Kentucky.
Clayton Pickard, Paducah Tilghman High School
Pickard was a Paducah Tilghman baseball player and a member of the National Honors Society. He has also volunteered with the Paducah Food Pantry, Starfish Ministry, assisted with tornado recovery, and was involved with a school and neighborhood cleanup.
Destiny Wright, Christian Fellowship School
Wright was a member of DECCA and a Bible Study Leader. She has assisted with a tornado cleanup, volunteered with a soup kitchen, done mission work and assisted with orphan care.
Hope Pratt, Marshall County High School
Pratt worked at the Calvert City Nursing and Rehab Center as a certified nurse aid, was an active member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church youth group, was on the honor roll all years of high school and was a member of HOSA. She also volunteered at Marcellas Kitchen and worked with the Johnson South Family Resource Center.
Kelsea Timmons, Marshall County High School
Timmons was a member of HOSA and has been through medical pathways at her high school, passing all of her certification tests. She has also been a volunteer at Marcellas Kitchen.
Memphis Ford, Marshall County High School
Ford was a part of the Marshall County Mountain Bike Team. He has also volunteered with the Marshall County Bike Team to do trail work.
Patience Puckett, Calloway County High School
Puckett was involved with FFA and was a student advisor. She has volunteered with Soup for the Soul, FFA Pancake Breakfast and assisted with the Antique Tractor Show.
Jacob Akin, Calloway County High School
Akin was Vice President of the Calloway County High School FFA Chapter, was highly active with the Calloway County High School FFA Chapter, was on the Calloway County High School varsity basketball team and was the top squat trap shooter for the Calloway Country High School trap shooting team.
Cejay Riley, Murray High School
Riley was involved with Leadership Tomorrow, Student Council, Speech Team, FBLA, National Honor Society, National Beta Club, Leo Club, Yearbook, Tennis, Cheerleading, was the Boys Basketball Manager, did Honors and Dual Credit Course Work, was on Prom Court, Prom Committee, Prom Committee Food Chair, Football Homecoming Court and was a Peer Mentor for students with disabilities.
Clayton Bazzell, Murray High School
Bazzel was a member of the Murray High School Archery team. He was involved in the All-A State Competition, KHSSA Regional Competition, NASP Regional and State Competition, FFA, received the MSU Hudson School of Agriculture FFA All-Star Award, was the Ag Plant Sales Team Leader and Fundraising Chairman. He was also a member of Young Life, Upward Ministry Basketball League, Beta Club, FBLA, Murray State FBLA Region 1 Leadership Conference, FCA, Spanish Club and Hardin Baptist Youth.
