Eight graduating seniors from the Chaffey Joint Union High School District were recently awarded 2025 Chaffey College Trust Fund Scholarships.
The Chaffey Trust, established in 1882, created the scholarship program in 1967 to provide awards to outstanding students in the Chaffey district, according to a news release.
Every year, scholarships are awarded to seniors at each of the Chaffey district’s eight comprehensive high schools for their academic record, participation in student activities and potential for collegiate success. Each scholarship is named after a former Chaffey district superintendent.
The awards were distributed during a recent Chaffey district School Board meeting, held in Gardiner W. Spring Auditorium on the Chaffey High School campus.
Following are this year’s recipients.
Aziz Haroun of Etiwanda High School received the $2,500 Gardiner W. Spring Scholarship. Haroun plans to attend UCLA and major in biochemistry.
Vaishnavi Aedavalli of Rancho Cucamonga High School received the $2,400 Daniel B. Milliken Scholarship. Aedavalli plans to attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo or UC Davis and major in aerospace engineering.
Aamirah Day of Colony High School received the $2,300 Allan G. Smith Scholarship. Day plans to attend the University of Southern California and major in biology.
Christine Liao of Los Osos High School received the $2,200 Mike Dirksen Scholarship. Liao plans to attend Stanford University and major in information systems.
Angel Hernandez-Ramos of Montclair High School received the $2,100 Dean Smothers Scholarship. Hernandez-Ramos plans to attend Harvey Mudd College and major in engineering.
Logan Parker of Alta Loma High School received the $2,000 Bette Harrison Scholarship. Parker plans to attend UC San Diego and major in aerospace engineering.
Valerie Cortez-Herrera of Ontario High School received the $1,900 Barry W. Cadwallader Scholarship. Cortez-Herrera plans to attend Mount St. Mary’s University and major in nursing.
Madelyn Gonzalez of Chaffey High School received the $1,800 Merton E. Hill Scholarship. Gonzalez plans to attend UCLA and major in mathematics and accounting.
