Campus officers throughout the Chaffey Joint Union High School District took part in a competition May 3 to show off their physical skills while demonstrating their support for the students they serve.
The Sweating for Scholarships competition is part of a scholarship program to help students who have demonstrated resilience in the face of adversity.
The competition, at the Chaffey High School football field, featured campus officer teams from all eight Chaffey district comprehensive high schools and the Adult Education Center, as well as a team of district administrators.
The agility challenge was in support of the district’s Campus Officer Scholarships for Student Perseverance, this year awarded to 10 students who have demonstrated resilience in the face of adversity. The scholarship winners and their families were on hand as the Chaffey High School campus officer team (Calvi Slay, Maggie Fariaz and Raymond Zambrano) took first place, followed by the district administration team and the Colony High School team.
Each participating team earned a $500 scholarship for a student of their choosing.
The Chaffey district launched the Campus Officer Scholarships for Student Perseverance last year. The scholarships are made possible by the support of the Chaffey Federal Credit Union and the Education Foundation
The scholarships were presented to the winning students after the competition.
