More than $681,000 in scholarships have been awarded to Charlevoix County students, according to an announcement from the Charlevoix County Community Foundation.
The community foundation (C3F) distributed 77 scholarships to 54 students in 2025, with 40% of them being multi-year awards. These scholarships are intended to support students pursuing university degrees, career skills training and continuing education programs.
The scholarships were established by local citizens and groups to honor family members, community leaders and educators who value continuing education.
Collaborative academic scholarships, which pool funds from multiple individual sources, were awarded to Ellie Clausen of Boyne City, Emma Meadows of Charlevoix and Korbyn Russell of East Jordan.
“Receiving this scholarship is a great honor, and the support of donors means a lot to me,” Russell said in the announcement. “Scholarships are evidence that working hard as a student, an athlete and being an involved community member pays off in the end.”
C3F also supported students seeking continuing education in the medical and nursing fields.
“Receiving this scholarship support means the world to me,” said Michaela Ford, who is pursuing a nursing degree at North Central Michigan College. “This allows me to feel more comfortable and confident that I will continue supporting my family while also pursuing a degree in a field that enables me to contribute to the community around me and assist those who need help.”
The scholarships are designed to ease the financial burden on students, allowing them to focus on their education.
