Two Tucker Chick-fil-A restaurants announced that 39 of their team members have been awarded $75,000 in scholarships from Chick-fil-A, Inc. through the Chick-fil-A Remarkable Futures Scholarships initiative.
According to a company release, Chick-fil-A Northlake Festival’s 20 recipients and Chick-fil-A Tucker Hugh Howell’s 19 recipients are among more than 15,000 employees across the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada to receive scholarships.
This year, Chick-fil-A, Inc. awarded more than $27 million in scholarships, investing in higher education for more than 15,000 employees, according to the release.
The company recognized in particular Joshua Akakpo-Vizah (Chick-fil-A Northlake Festival), who is works in the front of the house and also acts as a trainer.
“He known for his positive attitude and team spirit,” the statement said. “Josh enjoys volleyball, coding, and church volunteer work. With his scholarship, he plans to study computer science at Georgia State University.”
The release also highlighted Rebecca Pettett (Chick-fil-A Tucker Hugh Howell), who was recognized for her empathy and guest relationships.
“Rebecca plays violin, studies Korean, and volunteers with a Bible Club,” the release said. “With her scholarship, she plans to pursue a degree in teaching English as a second language at Liberty University Online.”
As part of the scholarship application, Chick-fil-A restaurant owner-operators nominate people who possess strong leadership skills, demonstrate a commitment to academic achievement and a desire to make a positive impact on their communities.
