The children of the eight victims of the August 6 helicopter crash have been awarded full scholarships to pursue their education.
According to citinewsroom.com report on September 9, 2025, the announcement was made at a ceremony in the Office of the Chief of Staff, where Julius Debrah received the scholarship offer on behalf of the bereaved families.
The initiative, a collaboration between B5 Plus Group and DPS International School in Tema, will provide two children from each affected family with full scholarships from the basic level through to A-Levels.
“The package covers tuition, uniforms, and boarding facilities where necessary,” the report said.

Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, commended the initiative, describing it as a strong example of private sector commitment to nation-building and social responsibility.
Presidential Advisor on Legal Affairs and former Attorney-General, Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, also praised the gesture, highlighting the long-term benefits of investing in the children’s education.
She lauded DPS International’s academic record, citing one of its alumni, Oheneba Kwame Kyeretwie, son of the Asantehene, who is currently studying Astronomy at Wesleyan University in the United States.

She added that the initiative would be warmly received by President John Dramani Mahama as a meaningful tribute to the lives lost in the tragedy.
