Clark Atlanta Launches Scholarship In Honor of Alum Dr. Cameisha Clark, Who Was Gunned Down In California
Clark Atlanta University is mourning the loss of one of its most adored former scholars, Dr. Cameisha Clark, who was senselessly killed in California.

In response to her tragic death, the university has announced plans to honor her legacy by establishing the Dr. Cameisha Clark Scholarship Fund with an initial commitment of $10,000. This scholarship will support students studying Education, a field Dr. Clark devoted her life to.
In a heartfelt statement, the university confirmed that Dr. Clark, a dedicated “Triple Panther” who earned her undergraduate, Master’s, and Educational Doctorate degrees from CAU, would be remembered for her “scholarship, mentorship, and unwavering Panther spirit.” Dr. Clark had recently been promoted to Dean of Student Affairs at Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in Inglewood, California, a role she had embraced with passion.
A staunch advocate against gun violence, Dr. Clark had founded C Squared, an initiative in Atlanta aimed at combating the issue. Tragically, on May 2, former Spartan security guard Jesse Figueroa shot Dr. Clark and her assistant in what police have labeled a targeted, execution-style attack. Figueroa has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and several other felony charges.
Media personality and CAU alum, Big Homie Kodaq, remembered Dr. Clark in a statement to Baller Alert.
“The Clark Atlanta University community has suffered tremendously with the loss of Dr. Clark. She was a leader amongst her peers and a light on campus. She represented the best of us, a scholar, a friend, and a pillar in whatever community she was in,” he shared.
Clark’s family mourned her death in a statement to NBC 4, KTLA, and KABC, saying they are “beyond devastated” by her alleged murder.
“She was an amazing person who didn’t deserve this. She was living her best life, doing the work she loved. Cameisha was the most compassionate, loving, and fiercely loyal person. She was a radiant, joyful, driven, and compassionate woman who touched countless lives across the country from her hometown of Atlanta, GA, to L.A.”
The university will formally launch the scholarship during its Baccalaureate service on May 17. University President Dr. George T. French, Jr. stated, “She lived with purpose, led with heart, and leaves behind a legacy that will continue to uplift and inspire the CAU Nation for generations to come.”
