Chase Branham, a point guard in the class of 2027, received a scholarship offer from IU basketball on Friday.
Branham reported the offer on his X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram accounts.
The 6-foot-4 guard plays at Logan-Rogersville High School in Rogersville, Missouri. He also has early scholarship offers from Austin Peay, Kansas State and Missouri. Iowa State has also reportedly shown interest.
Branham is ranked a four-star prospect and the No. 62 player nationally, according to 247Sports. He plays for KC Run GMC on the Under Armour Association circuit.
Nick Norton, who is expected to be a part of IU’s new coaching staff under Darian DeVries, played for KC Run GMC. Norton played four seasons at UAB before transferring to Drake for the 2018-19 season. Norton has worked with DeVries since the 2021-22 season, first at Drake and then at West Virginia.
As a sophomore, Branham was named the district and conference player of the year and to the All-State team. He recently concluded his high school season with a trip to the Missouri Class 4A state semifinals. Logan-Rogersville fell 61-53 to Benton on March 21.
According to the Springfield News-Leader, Branham averaged 19.2 points and 2.7 rebounds as a sophomore and shot 62 percent from the field.
Branham’s trainer, Jordan Walton, praised his game in an interview with the Springfield News-Leader in late December.
“We compare him to a basketball robot or like an alien,” Walton said. “His processing speed and ability to understand things immediately… you have to explain things three-to-nine times with most kids. Chase finishes your sentences. It’s really weird. Working out with him is a different experience than any experience with anyone else.”
I’m blessed to receive an offer from Indiana University!!! ??? pic.twitter.com/RJTslCGCtW
