Coastal Concerts music scholarship winners perform in Lewes – Cape Gazette
The future of classical music is undoubtedly bright, judging by the talent on display from gifted young musicians at the Coastal Concerts Scholarship Winners concert held Oct. 5 at the Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware fellowship hall west of Lewes.
Attendees were treated to performances by scholarship winners selected from across the Delmarva Peninsula by Coastal Concerts board members and volunteers.
Lynn Godino, a board member and multi-year panelist, said, “The musicianship demonstrated by these young individuals is nothing short of awe-inspiring.”
Performers included violinists Ethan Xie, Maxwell “Max” Brown and his younger sister River Brown; pianists Anna Liang, Sophia Allen, Emily Zhou and Peter Jin; and baritone vocalist Marcos Salvador Riera.
“Their talents are clearly the product of both natural gifts and a diligent commitment to the practice required to perform at such a high level,” said Godino. She said the scholarship awards help cover the costs of private lessons and application fees as these students pursue future studies.
Applications for the 2025-26 Coastal Concerts Music Scholarship Program will open Saturday, Nov. 15. To learn more, go to coastalconcerts.org.
