BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) — About 200 runners and walkers geared up at the starting line on Saturday for Central Oregon Community College’s 25th annual Turkey Trot fun-run scholarship fundraiser.
“It’s actually a really nice fall morning,” said Jacob Swinn, COCC’s assistant director of club and mural sports. “So to get people out, having fun, exercising and just kind of seeing what the campus has to offer and, you know, just extending the tradition of COCC races.”
COCC’s 5K run/walk took place at the Bend campus’s track, preceded by the third annual Toddler Trot.
Free to COCC students, the race event cost $15 for preregistered participants (plus $2.50 in online fees) and $20 for those who registered on race day. The fee included a T-shirt, prizes and lunch.
The free Toddler Trot involved two race categories: ages 3 years and younger and 5 years and younger. A budding tradition now in its third year, the Toddler Trot crossed the full length of COCC’s athletic field.
All proceeds benefit the COCC Foundation, which provides scholarship assistance to students and fiscal support for college programs.
