COLD SPRING- Oliver Petkus has found opportunities throughout his young life to share with others and bring people together through music and performance.
The 2025 graduate of Haldane High School in Cold Spring who will be attending SUNY New Paltz next month has been awarded the Cold Spring Fire Department’s first annual George Stevenson Scholarship for Arts and Service.
At a ceremony before fire department membership, fire department President Lillian Moser said the volunteer agency was “honored to have the opportunity to provide the scholarship over the next 9 years in the name of fire company member, George Stevenson. The gift of his artwork allowed the company to raise more than $10,000 which is being awarded to a graduating Haldane senior who embodies the values that the Cold Spring Fire Department represents – volunteerism, leadership, community service and protection and care for our neighbors.”
Moser said the entire department celebrated the “impact art has had on George’s recovery, and the impact George has had on the Cold Spring community.”
