GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – With the job title of “chief enrollment officer” at Bob Jones University, it seems fitting that Dr. Matthew Weathers would seek out ways to bring more students to campus. However, his latest endeavor goes way beyond the job description.
Weathers decided to raise $1 million for student financial aid by completing four triathlons in four days.
A triathlon involves swimming for 2.4 miles, cycling for 112 miles and running for 26.2 miles. The first of Weathers’ four triathlons took place March 17.
Weathers said he named this effort “Iron 40″ because it coincides with the year he celebrates his 40th birthday.
“This is for the students who are doing the seemingly impossible by choosing to study at a Christian University,” Weathers said.
