Someone in your household thinking about college? Higher education is a serious investment of both time and money and, going into debt, even with financial aid is not without significant risk.
Congressional Representative Brittany Pettersen’s staff has organized an area College Fair for  5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 1 in Salida. There, students and parents can meet with representatives from colleges and universities and learn about the admissions process, campus life, and more.

“As the first person in my family to graduate from college, I know how confusing it can be to navigate loans, applications, and FAFSA. Now, I want to help the next generation of Colorado students achieve their dreams,” said Pettersen.

Learn how to receive federal student aid and explore scholarships
Students and parents need to explore the many options for higher education and this one-stop event is a great way to start.
The Colorado Department of Higher Education will also give a presentation on how to apply for federal student aid and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Attendees can also explore the many scholarships available to Colorado students and meet directly with scholarship foundations.

Also starting May 1, students interested in applying for an appointment to four of our nation’s prestigious service academies can request a congressional nomination from Rep. Pettersen: the U.S. Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA)
