PASCO, Wash. — Columbia Basin College transformed fundraising into fun Thursday night, turning it’s annual scholarship fundraiser into a game show.
The event serves a critical mission: raising funds for scholarships that support both current and incoming students. According to the CBC Foundation, these scholarships play a key role in helping students complete their education.
“Our goal really is at this event to raise over $200,000, and every year the CBC Foundation gives over $1.3 million of scholarships to our students. So that’s really our purpose today,” said Melda Velasquez, chair of the Columbia Basic College Foundation.
The game show format brought an interactive element to the fundraising effort, with attendees participating both on stage and at mini-games set up around the venue.
This year’s prize lineup featured several local and statewide attractions, including tickets for the FIFA World Cup, Seattle Kraken and Tri-Cities Americans. The event also provided trip vouchers, including one to Suncadia in Cle Elum.
The event ran wrapped up Thursday night around 9 p.m.
