Columbia Supreme unveiled the Heavenleigh Scholarship Fund at its first Basketball All-Star Classic.
Columbia Supreme held its first Basketball All-Star Classic at Oakland Middle School on Saturday afternoon to raise money for a new scholarship fund.
The event featured a door raffle and opportunities for attendees to compete on the court in three basketball events, which were three-point shots, King or Queen of the court and Hot Shot.
Two basketball teams faced off in the main event. The teams included student athletes, former basketball players and former basketball professionals.
Columbia Mayor Barbara Buffaloe attended the event. KOMU 8 anchor Evie Allen served as the emcee.
Anthony Johnson, founder of Columbia Supreme, said the purpose of the event was to unveil the Heavenleigh Scholarship Fund. The scholarship was created in honor of Heavenleigh Humes, who was a parent of a child in the Columbia Supreme. Humes’ family joined the unveiling ceremony.

Johnson said the fund will help support Heavenleigh’s family and assist other families in the community who are struggling.
The event also handed out the Scotty Willams Community Champion Award for the first time. It was presented to Julian Jackman, executive director of P.E.A.C.E. and co-founder of R.I.S.E Initiative in Columbia.
“Recognizing that while we are here to have a good time, that we are here for a mission. I would love to have some community support around the scholarship fund because it will do a lot for people and families in our community,” Johnson said.
Johnson said he plans to make this an annual event to help families.
